This time, they will have to earn my vote with good candidates. I'm voting progressive, period. If your candidate isn't what I consider progressive, you don't get my vote. No more good cop/bad cop kabuki for me. No more least worst.

Kos? I think he's an ambitious dog who caught the front end of the train. He's irrelevant to me too. I do check out Daily Kos from time to time just to see what the folks who hunger after recognition from the establishment have to say, to keep tabs a little bit on the state of 'officially approved' quasi-progressive political dialogue. It's like, I would check out Free Republic and News Max if I thought I could stomach them. I'm just not a strong enough person to face that much mealy mouthed power worship, so to guage the enemy, so to speak, I check out DK.

I was just thinking this week about how only a year ago, it was quite the faux pas to discuss Peak Oil on Daily Kos, as I recall. It was one of those tin foil, CT red flags to the raging bulls of Daily Kos, to the troll hunting wolf packs there. Now oil companies discuss Peak Oil.

The fact that Markos is at Newsweek now show me two things: one, that his income is notching steadily upwards; and two, that he is increasingly irrelevant and doesn't even know it. But I'm thinking that a lot of politicos will be face to face with their irrelevance after 2008, one way or another.

As for me, I'm rarely relevant, so it's not far for me to fall!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8983386.post-35398814305201550592007-11-26T22:34:00.000-06:002007-11-26T22:34:00.000-06:00BG -You have no idea how angry I am with Nancy Pel...BG -

You have no idea how angry I am with Nancy Pelosi, and I don't think anyone was more excited to see her pick up the gavel. I saw it as such vindication, not just for women, but for the SF Bay Area. My sadness with her performance could fill volumes.

As for the rest, I just don't think that you need to worry about being co-opted by the old school money and power routine. Speaking truth to power is its own reward.

Regards,

TengrainAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8983386.post-13309683011019947812007-11-26T20:11:00.000-06:002007-11-26T20:11:00.000-06:00The Democrats have failed in a number of ways, but...The Democrats have failed in a number of ways, but mostly in their leadership (or lack of). I think a lot of it has to do with their inability to come to consensus within their ranks, while the Republicans are off spinning the story they want reported. Democrats have traditionally been lousy at spin.

I also think in her attempt to be a different kind of leader, Speaker Pelosi has let us down. Congress is not ready for her "be the change you want to see" approach -- and by using it, she has allowed the Republicans to run all over us. Had she walked into the chamber as a "take charge" mom, bent on setting the "boys" straight, we might be a lot further along today on things that matter to many of us -- like ending the war, dealing with a real heathcare crisis, global warming, and yes, impeachment of an out of control administration.

I fear that as long as we have a winner takes all political system, and media owned by six corporations, nothing is ever going to change.

BACBAChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04394238321236592123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8983386.post-89042510391047119432007-11-26T19:25:00.000-06:002007-11-26T19:25:00.000-06:00My apologies for reading from, and linking to, my ...My apologies for reading from, and linking to, my own blog. I would like to cross post this and have this video on my blog if you don't mind.

This whole failure of the Democrats has been weighing heavy on my mind and you expressed a lot of what I have not been able to. Thank you.

We did a lot of the heavy lifting and now impeachment is off the table- that really is the cut to the chase point is, isn't it?

And as for Morse's remark above... there's always Jeff Gannon, isn't there?

Peace people- hope to be back at th salon after a couple of missed weeks.
