You can't win by quitting.

I live in the most progressive part of the country, the SF Bay Area, and could easily kick back this year because all of my local reps are good people and sure to be re-elected. But I'll be walking the precinct anyway and passing out flyers to support state issues, including beating back Meg "Vampire Squid" Whitman in support of Jerry Brown and helping Barbara Boxer fend off Carly "Batshit Insane" Fiorina, plus pushing for the marijuana legalization initiative. There is always plenty of good and decent and progressive work that needs doing, no time for slacking off.

If the Left backs away from the Democratic Party, it will only force them to become even more conservative to stay in power. As a strategy for advancing progressive causes, that makes no sense.Graham Firchlishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17836327586888512157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8983386.post-8237857384640059272010-07-08T14:02:36.997-05:002010-07-08T14:02:36.997-05:00Silence might not be a bad idea considering the la...Silence might not be a bad idea considering the last 18 months. The rigged game and the fact that the greedheads own all major channels of communication (excepting, for now, the Net), means we cannot win using conventional tactics.
Being "slacktivists" on the Net helps, but not nearly enough. In many ways, it hurts (people vent and then walk away routine).
BG: maybe on some podcast, you and DG can explore the increasing depression mindset that I think we all see settling in on progressives. There's gotta' be a way to win. I'm convinced it isn't through tactics employed today.Denny Smithnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8983386.post-57520565690472680602010-07-08T06:26:48.697-05:002010-07-08T06:26:48.697-05:00Thank you for not taking the summer off.
