Respect to Reid, he is indeed infuriating at times. Right now, though, I don't think he suffers from a lack of either physical or moral courage. (Mind you, I said, "At this point.")
I think the main problem is that Reed's inexorably enmeshed in the secrecy, the "comity" (sic!), the mystique, and the privilege of the Senate.
