Don't worry so much, Mr. President

Dubya is trying to get us "younger" workers worried about Social Security. Blue Gal gave up thinking she's gonna see any FDR style check years ago. That's fer what she married the Raisin.

Ooh ooh. Young workers should be allowed to "cash in" on the stock market with their "guaranteed" benefit? Huh? You mean like when the tech bubble burst in 2001?

Interesting that 2001 was the exact year Congress allowed younger workers to invest in the stock market with tax deferred Roth accounts, so, um, I think we've covered that, Mr. President.

Blue Gal is amazed. Even most Americans are smart enough to see through this one.

The new Nation anthem. Sorry, can't take credit for these words.

    Curtis Mayfield can, though.

Curtis Mayfield, "(Don't Worry) If There's A Hell Below, We're All Going To Go" (1970...slightly updated for our times.)

    (Sisters! Niggers! Whities! Jews! Crackers!

Don't worry, if there's hell below, we're all gonna go!

    Sisters, brothers and the whities
    Blacks and the crackers,
    police and their backers
    They're all political actors

Hurry, people running from their worries
While the judge and his juries
Dictate the law that's partly flaw

Cat calling, love balling, fussing and cussing
Top billing now is killing, for peace no one is willing
Kind of make you get that feeling
Everybody smoke, use the pill and the dope

    Educated fools from uneducated schools

Pimping people is the rule, polluted water in the pool

And Dubya talking about don't worry
    He say don't worry

But they don't know there can be no show
And if there's a hell below we're all gonna go

    Everybody praying and everybody saying
But when come time to do, everybody's laying
    Just talking about don't worry
    They say don't worry...

    Lord what we gonna do...
Tell me what we're gonna do
If everything I say is true
This ain't no way it ought to be
If only all the mass could see
But they keep talking about don't worry
    They say don't worry...

  6. I wish it were true that most Americans are smart enough to see through this one, but I fear that it's not actually true. How many Americans are making the connection between Bush's re-election, the Republican gains, and "reform" of the bankruptcy laws?

Soon, some poor schlepp who got in over his head in debt and can no longer resolve his crisis through bankruptcy may take cold comfort in the fact that gays can't get partnership benefits in Ohio.
