What American accent do you have? Your Result: The Inland North You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop." |
I called it "pop" until I went to college with a buncha New Yorkers. It was "soda" from then on.
And here's a crappy photo of me from high school. I know. It really is time for me to update my look. (h/t to the only friend from high school who I know reads this blog. That's your shoulder, Brian.)
Seems pretty accurate to me - "Your Result: The Midland" AKA no accent.
ReplyDeleteI've got a lot of American accents, from cud-chewing East Texas to third-hit-on-the-bong Coastal Californian - but none of them type that well.
ReplyDeleteAnd which look - the vampy 'I've got a secret' look, or the 'I can't believe you said something that insipid - Bless your heart!' look?
;>)
...the "high school long hair fetish" bright eyed and enthusiastic look, db.
ReplyDeleteBright eyed and enthusiastic beats the beans out of dull-eyed and morose in 9 out of 10 markets, I'm told.
ReplyDeleteAs for hair...well, if one has it, flaunt it - nostrils and ears excepted.
;>)
Strangely, my hair has no accent. Apparently neither does my pronunciation.
ReplyDeleteCool quiz BG!
I have used "pop" all my life. Especially, when I use to ride the EL to the Loop.

ReplyDeleteMan, that quiz nailed it. Said I was from Philadelphia. Actually, I was raised in S. Jersey, but mere miles from Philly. Interesting how they got that just from those questions. And a great high school photo. The camera obviously loved you. Me...not so much. Chipmunk cheeks in every fucking picture (I looked like a teenager until I was 30 years old...baby fat).
ReplyDeleteKiller long hair BG-dark n wavy. The kind of hair that crushed the spirits of younger men in yer time, I'm sure, knowing they never stood a chance to hit on ya.
ReplyDeleteOlder guys musta been all OVER your game. *G*
High school Blue Gal, hubba hubba.
ReplyDeleteLove the high school photo. I certainly remember those lengthy "big hair" days. Here's my quiz result and my post:
ReplyDeleteTotally WRONG! Northeast--no way, CA all my life! Just happen to be a speech pathologist.
It says I'm from Philadelphia and the "what kind of person is attracted to you" came out Yuppies. I think it needs recalibration, I attract psychos.
ReplyDeleteThe quiz nailed it! MO and PA for me and that's been my life.
ReplyDeleteH.S. pic brings back memories -- thanks for sharing.
