Opa! Another BGDG broadcast! Saturday morning coffee tastes so much better with hot buttered schoonbrod and the mellifluous voices of DG and BG.

If you are looking for whores look no farther than the field of economics and business reporting.

The same people who promoted the risk taking that brought down the world's economy are now defending the bankers and using populist themes to discredit the Obama administration.

Jeffery Sachs is one of the most outrageous of the economist is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Sachs.

He was hired to teach the Russians how to do capitalism; which led to the rise of the oligarchies and Putin. He's never met a corporations he didn't like or could bill.

It's important to understand that there is an entire support system that is dependent on the banksters for their lively hood, same as the Rt wing pundits. They are all remoras: http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/497706/remora

In the past few weeks there has been a steady stream of articles and "news" stories about how the financial panic was not the fault of the bankers. It has all the earmarks of a slow roll out PR campaign.

We are in an all out battle with the corporations over control of this country. However the public seems oblivious to the fact that the real threat to our way of life, are not the foreign terrorist, but the companies we do business with every day.

  5. Amusing but I don't buy Republicans as porn fiends any more than Democrats as Obama cultists. Inconveniently, Larry Flynt, the Mr. Burns of porn, is a Democrat.

    Chris,

The bloggers were using a metaphor, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaphor in their discussion.

This may explain why you are so lost in this world; don't take everything so literally.

Chris Martin: "Inconveniently, Larry Flynt, the Mr. Burns of porn, is a Democrat."

Logical fallacy : If a Democrat is a porn lover then it proves republicans are not porn lovers and cannot be related with porn like activity.

Also, the podcast didn't say the republicans are porn fiends but instead said that they tend to display behavior similar to porn addicts.

Also, Google this: "red states porn spending"

"Obama cultists" is a meme not a fact.

  8. There's a line between recognizing the nearly universal whoredom of inside the beltway types, and adopting a "both sides do it" mentality when it comes to REWRITING HISTORY to serve your own insane agenda.

Cheney versus Biden showed this morning that where the porn is. I'm totally willing to accept that Biden is a ho, but he doesn't torture.

I think Chris is referring to the porn of politics, which is universal. The Porn of Cheney, on the other hand, is not. And given Cheney's penchant for torture, I don't think you need a metaphor, frankly, to pin the porn thing on him.

  10. BG - I just finished listening (busy weekend), and it is another great show.

The connection between conservatives and porn is there: you have to be willing to suspend all beliefs to accept that fantasy. It really strikes a chord for me, I got it.

As for the Davids, I cannot be the only one who remembers that Morse at the late and lamented Media Needle used to do a regular feature that he called the Army of Davids; sometimes it was just the pundits at the bar but it was always brilliant.

What is it about the pundits? Oh, year: you have to be willing to suspend all facts in order to believe them, just like porn.

    Yup, it works.

    Regards,

    Tengrain

  12. If for the Villagers, the 90s were the decade of the Clenis, the aughts were mostly the decade of the, um (shudder) Krenis. We invaded Iraq largely because Bill Kristol and the gang wanted to get their war on and prove their manhood against Arabs/Muslims/Persians - by sending other people to die, of course. Torturing people was much the same thing, because most every professional interrogator opposed/opposes it, but lookee there on the teevee, manly Jack Bauer does it (although unlike the Bush crew, he takes responsibility for it). Lastly, Kristol was charmed by Palin on a conservative cruise – not by any policy matters, but by her personality. As with Bush, Kristol and the gang viewed/view Palin as a useful figurehead, an empty vessel (Freudian, yes, but Kevin Drum's phrase for the neocons and Bush) they could pour their sociopathic, demonstrably disastrous policies into. It's Bill Kristol's twisted porn world, and we just live in it.
