In Canada we don't have a First Amendment right to free speech. We DO have a statutory right of expression, but it's limited. There are laws that make hate speech illegal. Long story short, these people would be up on charges in Canada.
Do the laws limiting free speech in Canada inhibit freedom of expression? Late weekend nights, broadcast TV in Toronto often features full frontal nudity and people having intercourse - etcetera. I would say our political discourse is not only more lively, and far more balanced, but manages to be both while mostly maintaining a polite mutual respect rare on the US networks. Just last week I was watching a movie that had a couple of scenes showing a woman's breasts. After the commercials was a 'viewer's discretion' warning - because of the violent scenes. Canadian censors take violence much more seriously than Americans do - and rightly so, IMO.
I forgot to add that I am a long-time Disney, um, despiser (is there such a word?). I wrote Steve Jobs a letter last year, by way of example, asking him to resign from their Board. As a native SF, I have had to suffer with KSFO, it is a blight on our landscape.
why, yes, yes they are!
