When I was a kid, my family went on vacation to Wildwood New Jersey and Gladys Knight and the Pips were perfroming in a club near our motel and they were staying there as well. My older sister was afraid to ask for their autograph, so she made me go over to one of the Pips and ask. I was dripping wet from the pool. He asked if I had a paper and pen...I didn't so he took me to Gladys' room, she was cooking bacon, and told her I wanted an autograph. She went and got a picture of the group and they all signed it. My sister still has that picture.

    Dang, I went tubin . . . my bad.

One of my ALL time favs, still, is that wackalooness Dionne Warwick, and this cut, which had me in tears in my adolescent years. I blame the horn section . . . but it's really Dionne who kills it:

  6. Woo hoo! I LOVE Gladys and the gang. The Pips really don't get the credit they deserve as brilliant backup/ensemble singers.
