I have to admit, the long hard work on this one paid off. I'll run it this weekend at the big blog, if you have feedback, I'd love to hear it. It's not too late to spend another five and a half hours on it.
One small note on a neglected aphorism, one of my favorites - "Conservatism cannot fail, it can only be failed" - Classic projection of inverted collectivist dogma.
Very clever adaptation, Fran! I could still be stuck in first gear, it's early, but I didn't finish some early captions before they disappeared; eg, "Krystal gave me the map". . . Oh my ears and whiskers. . . And it's probably a "doh!" moment for me, but I don't get "McCain Points, attack!" Maybe: "McCain Cards, Attack!"?
Re: the WR's first quip: I was a kid when I saw the Disney version, and the White Wabbit singing, "I'm late, I'm late, for a very important DATE!" was burned into my brain (and millions of other boomers) because it rhymed; you could put (2012) after it. Using the familiar in a new way is always good.

ReplyDeleteOtherwise, 'silent but deadly'.
Pretense first, politics after
;>)
Excellent film, Blue Gal! I love all of the old footage. (Especially the part about the cake.)

Anyway. You have the nack; keep at it!
Blue Gal...that is soooo funny! Great job. You captured perfectly the unreality of Sarah Palin and the Repugnican party!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your hard work!
Jacob (Aka L. A.)@, can I say, Contextual Criticism?

ReplyDeleteKudos on your superb short silent on sassy Sarah.
