Scorched Earth

800px-Bodies_on_the_battlefield_at_antietam

The end of this war is in sight, lefty bloggers.

We may see indictments this week, or next. Vice his own self may be involved.

Blue Gal is not sure whether to muse about 1972... or 1862.

You see, we are engaged in a great civil war. And having read so many of the lefty blogs out there, Blue Gal can see a pause, a stunned pause, as we embark on the righteous destruction of this insidious evil.

Blue Gal wants all of us to pause. Because we are about to lose the fun. This will not be fun, or funny. Saying "we told you so" is not nearly so fun as the smug outrage to which we have all become so addicted. When MSM begins to agree with us, we are no longer smarter than everyone else.

Yes, we shall prevail. Against the stolen election of 2000, against the lies which started the war in Iraq, against the tortured and uncounted souls of Abu Gharib and Guantanamo, against wickedness in high places.

Ah, Blue Gal is about to get Biblical. Nah, let's get Lincoln out here:

Now, we are engaged in a great Civil War, testing whether that Nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated to the great task remaining before us...that this Nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom; and that government of the People by the People and for the People shall not perish from the earth."

Blue Gal almost forgot that Lincoln put the "under God" stuff in there. He didn't "almost cross it out" before he gave the speech either. He did not worry about offending some Unitarian out there.

We lefty bloggers have a great task before us. Are we dedicated? Can we endure?

Are we humble enough to allow the great unwashed bastards who voted for Bush, to learn what we have known all along? Will we sit up with that sleepless weeping guilty throng during the long cold night of shame that our nation must now face?

Those of us who pray have an even greater task. We must put our finger to our lips,

S.

T.

F.

U.

and pray.

Blue Gal has been oh so tempted, yes, by Satan, to believe that Brit Hume, O'Reilly, Vice, Rove, Rice, Rummy, Dubya, and company are such liars as to be themselves without souls. They celebrate an Iraqi constitution which may last three months while systematically dismantling our own model which has lasted two centuries. But, while they are bastards, they are also human. And they will suffer for their sins, just as we all do. (Heck, Blue Gal's sins keep her busy 24/7.) Our nation of SUV's and cell phone cameras and botox injections and talking Christmas trees will suffer. We, ALL OF US, will be forced to face the vain, selfish, evil within.

Take a moment, fellow leftys, to consider the battle ahead. As the tide turns in our favor, let us pause, and be humbly, humbly, grateful.

I love - no, I am in love with - this country. I did the Isaac thing, worked for it for many years then had it switched out from under my feet and worked again for it. Trying to live up to the biblical model's tenacity, I've tried to remember that love is not a feeling in my heart - love is an active verb. I have been repeating to my not-in-the-US friends that yes, we may be looking entirely nutty but we have a system that prevails. Please God, I've been saying under my breath, let me be telling the truth.

Love ya' for pointing that out, BlueGal.

I'm always surprised to hear about Satan and the trouble folks have with her. Never have any trouble with Satan. Lotta trouble having God rammed down my throat by righteous, self-proclaimed 'Christians.'

I am in no mood to be any more humble than I attempt to be everyday. I realize I don't know a lot, but for our brain-dead electorate and the home-made sonzabitches who make up BUSHCO, I have only contempt.

I'm not sure if you're speaking of the here and now or the... there and then. You know I only recognize one of the two, and if that's the one you meant, I sadly have to disagree.

How will they suffer? Few if any of them will go to prison, and you know what kind of prison it'll be. They may not get the place in history they'd planned, but that's not really important, is it?

They won't lose their wealth, they won't lose their connections, none of them will ever need to worry about their needs or desires for the rest of their lives.

Dubsy has never had to worry about anything in his life, and he never will. In America, you can be stupid, selfish, lazy, pushy, dishonest, hateful, bigoted and (dare I say it) sinful, but if you come from the right family, it's never going to come back and bite you. You're untouchable.

  4. No, those in power will not go to prison, or if they do it will Danbury or another country club. And no, Dubya will not be among them. He will be fully pardoned and retreat, laughing chimp he is, to "the ranch", to live a long full life at our expense, getting his pension, protection and free medical care every year until he dies at the age of 110.

My question, Blue Gal, is this: who the hell will step in and run the country? Where is the leader we need for this revolution and reconstructon process? Kerry who ran and hid? McCain? Who?

  5. Pat Paulsen, America needs you.

Can we draft a dead guy?

  6. I have to say I'm pleased that in spite of the disagreements, everyone who has commented on this post is someone I have remarkable respect for. Mickey, honored to have you here. Really.

And okay. Bill O'Reilly is the biggest loser
hypocrite on the face of the planet and as far as Blue Gal is concerned, he can go to hell. Who exactly is Rupert fricking Murdoch's hired assassin, asshole? Oops. Guess Blue Gal has a few of her own sins to work on still.

  7. Oh Leslie Dahlink I did not mean to leave your question hanging. There will be no shortage of Democrats lining up to run against this record, not to worry. And one of them is destined to raise the weary hopes of even a tired old yella dawg crone like Blue Gal. Why, for instance, does Wesley Clark, who does not hold public office of any kind, have a
PAC, not to mention his cell phone number on every Sunday morning talk show Rolodex?

  8. Hey now...don't mess with Unitarians. We might kick your ass, but potentially agree on all the proper ways to kick ass and make sure everyone expresses his/her/zir/zim thoughts on the correct way of ass kicking.

Let's make a discussion group about this very issue.

  10. True, BG, Wesley Clark might pose a viable run... Any other contenders you can think of? Please don't tell me "Hillary".

She may be doing an admirable job in her first (underline & bold on first) term, but you need more than 4 years in office to gain the experience necessary - imho.

  11. Well said, Blue Gal. We have this one chance, and my one prayer is to do something right with it.
