But do the captors love her? Or her god? Or does she love them?
:) I dont think its as simple as god loves us all, we love them all.
We made Iraq the most dangerous place on earth. She went there, knowing well the risk. And the VERY THINKABLE occured.
Trust me, there is little place for jesus in Iraq. To these people (and they are not exactly all wrong), christians are the enemy. Remember the crusades? Where was the love then? (I understand if you dont let me post this. I still love you if you delete it.) R2K
Thanks for posting to my blog Alex. I generally don't delete comments, especially thoughtful ones like yours. FYI I worked for the Christian Science Monitor for 14+ years same as Jill (the hostage) did. So I kind of know the religious background she's coming from, I think.
Christians sure have done a lot of bad shit in the name of their religion. So have Muslims. That doesn't mean God isn't love, tho.
The CSM is one of the most clear voices in the U.S. about the Middle East (I didn't know that about you, Blue Gal! watche the esteem for you rise!) but no-one deserves to die as a hostage.
Although too many people have died in the name of Christ; some can still hear the call. One of those who could was Muhammad.
I have a feeling a lot of Christian Scientists are humming their hymn 135 today, for Jill:
Hymn 135
I know no life divided, O Lord of life, from Thee; In Thee is life provided For all mankind and me: I know no death, O Father, Because I live in Thee; Thy life it is that frees us From death eternally.
I fear no tribulation, Since, whatsoe'er it be, It makes no separation Between my Lord and me: Since Thou, my God and Father, Dost claim me as Thine own, I richly shall inherit All good, from Thee alone.
But do the captors love her? Or her god? Or does she love them?

More blood has been shed in the name of Christ than in any other movement. Go team!

I'm praying for her release (hippie style).
I like you, Blue Gal.
ReplyDeleteI'm coming back here.
.
See, Blue Gal, my first impression was that YOU were the lady in the picture--making me wonder why you were praying for yourself.
ReplyDeleteand also making me wonder why you started wearing a black head scarf.
it also made me worry about you, and consider praying for your soul.
ReplyDeletemaybe motherhood isn't what it's cracked up to be, ya know.
and maybe hubbie was holding you prisoner...he IS a Scorpio after all.
Those of you who know Comrade Kevin know that he doesn't pray for just anyone or for no good reason
