I actually used to have a button that said "Snoopy for President." I mean, with his record as a World War One flying ace and all, even the hawks might vote for him...
Hey, Quaker Dave, I did you one better. I had a "Snoopy for President" sweatshirt, probably in 1968. Gosh, I wish I still had it ... along with my purple "McGovern 72" football jersey. (My brother-in-law still has that one; I want to steal it from him!)
Anyway, beyond Snoopy and Charlie Brown, the blog post that you lifted the cartoon from, BG, was really good. I want to go back and meditate on those queries. Thanks for linking to it.
Indeed. The truth can be so simple.
ReplyDeleteGood steal.

SNOOPY FOR PRESIDENT!!!
ReplyDeleteIs it sad that I think a cartoon dog would do a better job than a real live ASS?
The wisdom of Snoopy. Yup. Good one BG.
ReplyDeleteperfect!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of Charles Schultz as subversive before. That is pretty cool.

I read every Peanuts cartoon I could get my hands on as a kid. Only now do I appreciate the sharp eye that Charles Schultz turned on the world.
