Tough news.

Driftglass got laid off this morning. Sigh. He's spending next week at the countryhouse... hopefully we can get his resume out to some outfits down here so ProLeft doesn't have to be long distance any more. In the meantime, the good news is that one percent (1%) of our podcast listeners made a $5.00 or more contribution to the podcast this week. That was our goal (up from point three three percent) and we're very grateful to each of you who threw some scratch in the hat.   It makes a difference, not just to our bank account, but to our spirits.  Thank you.

  1. tough news is right. I put my bummer face on for a minute, then my silver lining face kicked the ass of bummerface. then realism face gave silverliningface a stern talking to. then everyone made sweet sweet 'things could be worse' love and fell into a deep exhausted sleep on the numerous wet spots.

  2. I hope things work out there in 'The Heartland' for you folk. My wife finally got hired, but I'm at 2.5 years unemployed now. We contributed to PL for NetRoots and will again when we're able. Hal Rager in Las Vegas

And so it goes, and so it goes. Good people who work for the betterment of our world get Jack Doodly, while the obscenely wealthy eat our lunch. Jesus of Nazareth had a few words to say about that, though the FFR* tend to navigate that shoal gingerly while they claim His endorsement.

I'm scratching like most honest folks, but this is heartbreaking, and you'll see a dollop of my appreciation in your PayPal account. I can't do it often, but I can do it like I mean it.

Best of luck to DG on this one.

  5. A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country.

    or should that be

Honor is not without profit, except around here lately.

Sigh. In an even slightly just world, Driftglass' former employer's loss would be the Chicagoland radio broadcasting industry's gain. The man really ought to be doing 30 minutes of commentary a day on NPR for fat, fat, fat cheques.

  6. Jeeze, that bites.
As you well know, you two are at the top of the heap in Blogtopia IMHO.
That the man has serious talent is an understatement and you both are going to near the top of my prayers, save for my Grandmother.

It may be that there is a reason and Karma is setting you up for something wonderful.
You both deserve to be together and keep kicking ass and taking names.

    My best to you always.
