Getting started on this whole podcast thingy?

I need feedback.

The "rejected Blue Gal Theme Song" I play is from this album. Major thanks to the friend who sent it to me.

This recording is just under eleven minutes. I'd like to know how long you guys think a podcast should be. I promise future ones will be a little more informative than this. I'm still playing around.

If you notice my sound quality improves during the recording it's because I upgraded headphones/mic, thanks to 4yo breaking my original pair.

  1. Oh, I don't know, I think it's a catchy song! Heh heh.

It's great to hear your voice, Blue Gal! Exciting to hear you'll be doing a podcast. I hope it would be in addition to your writing, though. (Sounds like this is what you are thinking of doing, whew!)

  2. No, sorry.

You HAVE to use that song. No ifs, ands, or butts.

    Sorry.

  3. I like it so far :) But I wish you would use a regular podcast hosting service and RSS feed, so your listeners can subscribe through their favorite podcatchers.

  4. Thanks Jim. I'll get on that. This is the kind of info I need. Much appreciated.

    QD: You.

And thanks Veloute! Yeah, I need the writing more than the podcasting. Thanks for the compliment.

Milton Berle said the secret to show biz success is always leaving the audience wanting more. Your alleged theme song would seem to be in conflict with that sentiment.

TIA for making future episodes downloadable given that all my podcast listening comes either in the car or while working on the yard.

  6. Learn something new everyday! The fun girls don't wear panties to parties. I need to start partying again.

I once dated a Watermellom Queen and although she wore panties to parties they ususally found their way into her purse by the end of the night.

Yea I know way to much info.

I'd second jim's and pops' idea, but it's not critically important unless you're planning on frequent 15 minute plus marathons. You're comfortable with eSnips, and have gotten far enough up the learning curve that it's useful. I'll listen, even tethered to the PC.

    Thanks for the podcast, BG.

  10. ... "while vacuuming" ... what's vacuuming?

Seriously, I agree with QD ... I like the song, too. Maybe you could edit it into an opening and closing theme song. (Did I tell you I used to work in radio production?) Keep the podcasts coming!

  11. AACK. The flakey sound control button on my computer has finally flaked out. And I can't listen to your song. But I love it. Probably.

  12. Given your panty fetish BG, the song would seem to fit. Of course you are not obliged to play the whole thing, maybe to fade out after the first verse and chorus...

What about writing your post, with links and reading it for your podcast?

I used to do radio and notes while on-air were invaluable. If you have something to keep you on topic, the extraneous, spontaneous stuff tends to come more easily.

Radio or podcasting can be tough because you are your only audience.
If you have a 'cheat sheet' it can decrease the aloneness.

Good luck in any case and I look forward to hearing more of you i the future.

Also, the RSS or feedburner so that your podcast can be subscribed to is a must.

I really like the podcast thingy. You sound great! I love the idea of combining writing with audio and look forward to reading and hearing your work/art.

And as for listening while I clean? I was really hoping you'd found that self-cleaning house already. When you do, please blog or speak about it.
