Regarding the first: total agreement. And I've even seen Republicans mouth that statement. I think the Republicans are due for a split of gigantic proportions if Bush is so hellbent on keeping the troops in Iraq.
Regarding the second: much more dirt is going to have to come out on this administration before we can even broach the subject of the I word. We need a smoking gun. And as a student of history, I know that administrations prior have been plagued with the same sort of base incompetence and have not resulted in impeachment: U.S. Grant, who very nearly could have been elected to a third term as well as Warren Harding.
If the Republicans couldn't impeach Bill Clinton after he clearly lied and perjured himself, it's going to be damned difficult to get the necessary votes.
